How to do a pre-hung door installation

Installing a pre-hung door is an easy job to do. It can even be done by one with a lack of practical experience. So here are the instructions:
Materials:
• interior lockset
• pre-hung 3-panel door
• razor blade
• expanding foam
Tools:
• circular saw
• nail gun
• level
• tape measure
• utility knife
• screwdriver
• pencil
Directions:
1. Measure the door frame. Remove the old five-sided door, and then measure the doorway opening. Lay the door on sawhorses if you already have their measurements.

2. Cut the door. Mark the pre-hung door for the opening adding about an inch for carpet to run underneath the door. Apply painter’s tape along the length of the mark and on the plate of the saw. Cut the door along the mark.

3. Cut the door frame. After that, measure the door frame and cut it. You don’t have to account the carpeting in these measurements.

4. Add the hinges. While you screw the hinges and the door together, someone must hold the door. Next, walk the door over to the doorway.

5. Level the door. Shoot framing nails through the frame to the wall when the door has been level, making sure to maintain the spaces between the wall and the door.

6. Finish the door. The last, apply low expansion foam to the spaces between the wall and the door. The foam can keep, harden and expand the door in place. After the foam dries, cut any excess foam flush to the wall with a straight edge. And the gaps can be covered with trim.
